AMD Fluid Motion Frames technology will be available on ROG ALLY

Users of portable devices Ryzen Z1 were frustrated when they discovered that support updates AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) for mobile devices require dedicated drivers. Unlike regular graphics cards, these devices rely on their own graphics drivers provided by ASUS or by Lenovo. However, it is possible to install custom drivers to take advantage of the support, but in addition to being a complicated task for the average player, their use has introduced problems with the software incorporated into the machine.

The good news is that the ASUS will finally update your drivers to activate the AFMF on your device on April 25, 2024, which means you will no longer need to use any manual workarounds as the feature will be implemented natively on your device.

The new update will appear on the device as an update for integrated graphics (iGPU) and Armory Crate SE (ACSE). For now, frame generation technology will not be displayed as an option in the Command Centerhowever, the ASUS is working to add this feature to the menu as well.

AFMF was the response that OMG found to face the NVIDIA DLSS 3. Like its rival, this method adds “extra” frames to the graphics pipeline to dramatically increase performance without loss of graphics quality, of course if added together with the AMD FSR 3.

Players can activate the AFMF globally for all games or by title, whatever you want. However, this implementation has not been tested by developers and may produce various results. It is generally recommended to activate the AFMF in games that already output 60 FPS or higher for the best experience, but frame generation will work regardless. In this update players will also have a new option to lock the frames per second to 60 and use the AFMF to double the frame rate to 120 to guarantee more autonomy for the device.

It should be noted that on all form factor PCs (Steam Deck, Legion GO, MSI CLAW), the ROG Ally It is the first device to receive the much-desired feature.
