The theatrical feature-length animation “A NEW DAWN (Japanese title to be determined)” directed by Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, who is active as a borderless Japanese painter and animator, will be released in theaters in 2025. This is director Shinomiya’s first full-length animated film based on his own original script.
This work has also been selected for the Annecy Animation Showcase on “Animation Day” to be held at the Marché du Film of this year’s 77th Cannes Film Festival. The program will feature notable works currently in production, and director Shinomiya will be on stage on May 19th (local time) to screen and present the making of the film.
The story is set in a 330-year-old fireworks factory and fireworks store that is about to be forced to evict its land. It depicts the story of three young people who grew up there and the two days surrounding the phantom firework Shuhari.
As a Japanese painter, director Shinomiya has been involved in a variety of creative activities, including painting, three-dimensional art, and video. He is in charge of art and special scene direction for live-action and animated films.
