Anime “Dungeon Meal” Could be a useful life hack for dungeon capture?I investigated the yield of Senshi’s “Golem Farm”

Isn’t “Dungeon Meal”, which is a hot topic of the 2024 winter anime and has been well-received by fans during the spring season, one of them?

“Dungeon Meal” is the first full-length serialized work by Ryoko Kui, who has gained attention and distinguished herself with her unique collection of short stories. This work is a unique gourmet fantasy in which the adventurer Raios and his party aim for the deepest part of a dungeon while eating monsters in order to rescue his younger sister, Farin, who sacrificed herself to save the party.

In this work, we cook a huge scorpion, a walking mushroom, a basilisk, a moving armor, and a variety of other monsters, but the one that surprised me was the slightly mysterious (?) dwarf Senshi. Hats off to him for both of his reskills, but he actually runs a farm inside the dungeon.

The crops grown there are the kinds of crops we usually see, such as cabbage and potatoes. And the farmland where they are cultivated is…the back of a golem, a monster! Moreover, there are three golems, and they even have names: “Taro”, “Jiro”, and “Saburo”.

In a sense, it’s a fantasy-like cultivation method, and at the same time, I’m surprised by its free thinking…but how much does it actually yield?

That’s why I looked into “Golem Farm’s yield”.

Anime “Dungeon Meal” How much harvest does Golem Farm produce?

First, set the size of the golem farm. In the movie, the area on the back is assumed to be farmland because it has the shape of a fairly well-organized farmland.

According to official X (formerly Twitter), the size of the golem is 200 to 400 cm. Senshi’s height is around 140cm, and from the description it looks like he’s easily over twice Senshi’s height, so this time we’ll set it to 400cm.

Although the shapes of golems and humans are very different, we adapted the calculation method for human body size. The shoulder width is 0.25 times the height, so it is 100cm, and the height to the waist is height ÷ 2 + 2 to 3 cm. However, since the golem’s waist is apparently low, we will divide it by 2 and set it as 200cm.

From what I can see, the golem doesn’t seem to have a neck or head…100cm (shoulder width) x 200cm (height above the waist) = 20,000cm2 (2m2) is the size of the golem farm in this calculation.

Golem Farm production amount: 4,020kg x 0.002a = 8.04kg

Total amount: 8.04kg x 1kg/348 yen = 2,798 yen

■Potato

National average production: 3,250kg per 10a

Production volume of Golem Farm: 3,250kg x 0.002a = 6.5kg

Total amount: 6.5kg x 1kg/796 yen = 5,174 yen

■Onion

National average production: 4,300kg per 10a

Production volume of Golem Farm: 4,300kg x 0.002a = 8.6kg

Total price: 8.6kg x 1kg/536 yen = 4,610 yen

■Cabbage

What do you think? Although the amount and production amount are just reference data, the yield is quite large. It is understandable that Senshi would use it for unmanned sales offices and bartering.

However, although it is necessary to sow the seeds, there seems to be no need for any further work. It might be a very effective life hack in the dungeon…!?

However, if you are only using it for personal use, you should be concerned about how damaged the vegetables are.

Processing into preserved foods such as pickles and pickles is likely to be the key to effective utilization.
