“Teasing Master Takagi-san” is broadcast on the TBS Drama Stream slot (every Tuesday at 11:56 p.m. *Broadcast time is subject to change. Excludes some areas).

The live-action drama adaptation of the popular manga “Teasing Master Takagi-san” (original work by Soichiro Yamamoto, published by Shogakukan’s “Gessan Shonen Sunday Comics”) is set in a junior high school on an island. A youth romantic comedy that depicts the daily lives of two people, “Takagi-san, who is good at it” and “Nishikata, who keeps being teased.” Tsukishima Ryu plays the role of Mr. Takagi, who enjoys teasing Nishikata, and Soya Kurokawa plays the role of Nishikata, who is always teased by Mr. Takagi. We recently conducted an interview with the two co-stars, and asked them about behind-the-scenes stories from filming and episodes of co-starring together.

The drama was shot entirely on Shodoshima, Kagawa Prefecture, which is a sacred place for anime, and the director is Rikiya Imaizumi, who has gained tremendous support from movie fans as a master of romantic movies. Tsukishima said, “Takagi-san’s personality is the complete opposite of mine.I read the original work, and by the time we started filming, I understood that Takagi-san has a dignified and mature personality, and the tone of Takagi-san’s voice. I did a lot of research in the preparatory stages, such as the tempo and other details.” Looking back, he said, “Once I started shooting, I was able to shoot naturally without thinking about anything, so I thought it was really great. “I will,” he revealed.

Kurokawa, who plays the role of Nishikata, also said, “I started filming without thinking too much about it,” adding, “I’m frustrated that Takagi-san teased me. So I decided to tease him back…” Even on set, I said, “I’ll beat Takagi-san!” That’s how Nishikata felt. Directors Imaizumi and others told me that I looked like Nishikata, but I don’t really understand it myself (lol).”

In the first episode, Nishikata transforms his pencil case into a surprise box to tease Takagi-san, but Takagi-san sees through him and ends up teasing him instead. Mr. Takagi asks Nishikata to lend him his eraser, as he regrets it next time.

Then, Takagi-san brings up a spell that was popular when he was in elementary school: “If you write the name of the person you love on an eraser and use it all up, you will fall in love with each other.” Nishikata doesn’t like the eraser, calling it childish, but when Takagi-san looks at the eraser and Nishikata in turn and grins, he becomes impatient and begs for it back. Nishikata finally gets the eraser back and checks it, but…the story unfolds.

It seems that a lot of effort was put into filming this scene, which was the opening episode of the original work and the anime, with “a total of over 30 cuts,” and Tsukishima also said, “It was a famous scene that was in the original work, so I tried to play it carefully.” , I worked hard on each one carefully,” he recalled.

When asked about the actual result, he said, “On the set, we don’t really understand the connections between scenes, but when we saw the finished video, we realized that the interaction between the two of them with the eraser was wonderful. The scene was a little long with BGM playing, but it was drawn in an interesting way and was fun to watch.” Kurokawa also said, “I was a little embarrassed (lol). But I… I felt like I was watching Nishikata instead of a TV show, and I thought that was really good,” he said with a smile.

In the movie, Mr. Takagi’s eraser has the words “Roukamiro” written on it, and Nishikata gets caught in the trick. However, in a later scene, the kanji for “Nishi” can be seen on the back of the eraser… which seems to have some meaning.

Even in the classroom scene, it is said that the eraser prepared for filming had writing written on both sides, and in the movie Kurokawa, who is “removing the half”, accidentally looks at the side with “West” written on it. There was also a “Petit NG”. Kurokawa also said, “There’s a trick to removing the eraser case,” and he and Director Imaizumi tried through trial and error to find a smooth flow.

After all that effort, the “eraser scene” that has been attracting attention from fans was completed. After filming over 30 shots, the two looked back on the day with a laugh and said, “The sense of accomplishment was amazing.”

I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of heart-pounding scenes will be drawn from the middle to the end of the work.
