Konami Digital Entertainment announced that Guinness World Records has recognized Yu-Gi-Oh! as the best-selling card game, with 22,587,728,173 cards sold by April 2009. According to ANN, Kazuki Takahashi drew the original manga from 1996 to 2004, the game was officially released in 1999, spreading to 45 countries. Konami competed for the record in 2006 when it had only sold 15.8 billion cards.
