Broadcast information for the TV anime “Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin” has been announced. It will be broadcast every Saturday from 11pm on TV Tokyo and other channels starting July 6th (Saturday). In addition, the main theme song artist and the official trailer, which will be the first to reveal the animation footage, have also been released.

With the catchphrase “Rice is power!”, the unique Japanese-style action RPG “Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin” combines exhilarating combo action with simulation elements that deeply recreate traditional Japanese rice cultivation. Since its release in 2020, it has been an unprecedented hit that has excited people all over Japan, even being called the “Reiwa rice riot,” and has shipped over 1.5 million copies worldwide. This long-awaited TV anime adaptation is now available.

The official trailer, which uses songs written by Ikimonogakari and Little Glee Monster, has been released. It depicts the difficulties and growth that await Sakunahime, the lazy fertility goddess who was banished from the city of the gods.

We are Little Glee Monster, and we will be performing the ending theme for “Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.” All of our members love rice, so we were very happy when we heard that we would be performing the theme song for the rice-farming-themed anime “Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.”

The song “ORIGAMI” that I will be singing as the ending theme has lyrics and a song that will fit the scenery of “Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin”, and it is a work that gives you a sense of “harmony”, which can be said to be a new challenge for Little Glee Monster. I myself played the Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin game through to the end, and was drawn in by its classic storyline and the charming character designs of the Sakuna girls.

Games can be enjoyed in infinite ways depending on the player's actions, and the amount of information depicted in them is huge. On the other hand, animation is inevitably limited in length, so this time we focused on the story and characters in the game, and were conscious of digging deeper.

My name is Hanada, and I was in charge of the scenario. Although the story revolves around rice farming, it is set in the land of the gods, which is a slightly strange fantasy. As a gamer myself, I had been paying close attention to Sakunahime, so when I received the proposal to turn it into an anime, I was surprised, but also delighted to be able to depict Sakunahime and the other characters in animation.

By the way, in order to create materials for the production of the work, I grew rice for 80 years in three days, and as a result, I created the strongest Sakuna. It is nerve-wracking to film a work that is loved by so many fans.

In particular, the depiction of “rice farming” became a hot topic in the game, and not only did we have professional supervision, but we also farmed rice ourselves and took on the challenge of illustrating it.
