The Last of Us was an inspiration for the anime Heavenly Delusion

This weekend on a panel at Anime Central (ACen) the director Hirotaka Mori revealed that he was inspired by The Last of Us for the art direction of the anime series adaptation of the manga Heavenly Delusion (Tengoku Daimakyou) written and illustrated by Masakazu Ishiguro (Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru).

He even revealed that the team used the game's art books to build some of the anime's scenarios.

With animation by the studio Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East), directed by Hirotaka Morithe script is by Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass, School-Live!) and the character design is Utsushita of Minakata Laboratory. Music is the responsibility of Kensuke ushio (Space Dandy, A Silent Voice, Chainsaw Man).

Tengoku Daimakyou (Heavenly Delusion) began to be published in Monthly Afternoon in January 2018.

Synopsis of Heavenly Delusion

Within the safety of the walls, the youngsters are raised in a nursery environment by robots. Although life may seem stale on the surface, children are full of potential and curiosity. In many ways, it's like a slice of heaven. The outside world is hell. There is almost nothing mechanical and it is inhabited by strange and powerful supernatural beings. Maru, with Kiruko's help, is crossing what was once Tokyo through the sky. But after so much searching, perhaps heaven is more of an untenable dream than a potential reality.
