Q. Please tell us about SHO player’s “STR III 3rd” history.

SHO player: It’s been about 23 years since I started doing it when I was in middle school or high school.

Q. What motivates you to continue working for 23 years?

SHO player: “Street Fighter III 3rd” has a system called blocking, so there is no right answer (to tactics).
I think this dried squid-like element is the reason why it has continued.

Q. What did you think when it was announced that “Street Fighter III 3rd” would be the main title of EVO Japan 2024?

SHO player: I wondered what he was thinking (lol)
While today’s fighting games are mainly for home use, the main titles are games that used arcade cabinets from 25 years ago.
“Is it really going to happen!?” I asked Mr. Matsuda, the chairman of the tournament management committee, directly on LINE (lol)

Q. Where do you usually practice?

SHO player: We practice at 3 locations: Game Newton Oyama store, Nishi-Nippori Game Spot Versus, and Shinjuku Sportsland Main Building.
Boss-san, Maikeru-san and I were practicing a lot together.

Q. “Street Fighter III 3rd” has been ported to the consumer version, but you practice at the game center, right?

SHO player: After all, the cathode ray tube in the case has less delay than an LCD monitor, so you’ll have to practice at the game center for real practice.

In fact, I played against SHO on all practice days from the time I entered EVO until the actual performance.
There were days when the other members couldn’t make plans and we played for 6 hours without a break.

Q. Have you decided how to use the prize money?

SHO player: I love alcohol, but I stopped drinking for “EVO Japan 2024.”
I would like to treat everyone who came along to practice with some nice drinks!

Q. What are your future goals?

SHO player: First of all, it’s “EVO 2024”.
I think the players will change drastically in America.
I know a lot of strong players who didn’t make it this time, so I want to defeat them and aim for the championship!
After that, I received the device, so I thought I’d start playing Street Fighter 6.

Q. You’ve never played it!

SHO player: I didn’t touch it at all.
It was recommended to me by people around me and I thought it looked interesting, so I thought I’d give it a try.
