Shueisha began distributing a new vertical-reading manga app called “Jump TOON” for smartphones and tablet devices on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

“Jump TOON” is a new service from the Jump Group that serializes original vertically reading manga works and vertical color versions of popular works.

In addition to the app for mobile devices, it is also available on the website and can be accessed from a PC or other browser.

At the time of its launch, the site will feature 28 original serialized manga works and vertical color versions of popular works. At least four new works will be updated every day. New serializations are also scheduled to begin from time to time. In addition, the site will also feature exclusive and early release works from Jump TOON, as well as popular vertical manga already published on other platforms.

You can read a few chapters of each published work for free, and you can also enjoy it by taking advantage of the “wait and it's free” feature, which allows you to read the work for free if you wait a certain amount of time.

“Jump TOON” distributes vertical color versions of popular works. The vertical color versions are works that have been rearranged so that the frames can be read vertically, making them full color in order to provide a different reading experience from the original. At the start of the service, three works will be published: “Masuda Kosuke Theater Gag Manga Biyori” by Masuda Kosuke, “Haikyu!!” by Furudate Haruichi, and “Kingyozuma” by Kurosawa R. The number of published works is expected to increase in the future.

At the time of its release, “Jump TOON” will feature 28 original works and vertical color editions. The original series includes “The Return of the Armored Lady” by Aneko Yusagi, author of “The Rising of the Shield Hero,” and “Eden for You” by Yuki Shasendo.

In conjunction with the launch of Jump TOON, the Jump TOON editorial department will also be officially launching the vertical reading manga submission service Jump TOON NEXT!, which will lead to debuts, on Wednesday, May 29th.

We began accepting early submissions in conjunction with the 2nd Jump Toon Award, which began accepting submissions on Wednesday, May 22nd. From the official start on the 29th, submitted works will be made public, and submissions that are not intended to be submitted for a manga award will also be accepted.

The goal is to discover and nurture new manga artists who will make their debut in Jump TOON through works submitted to the Jump TOON AWARD and Jump TOON NEXT!

“Jump TOON NEXT!” allows anyone to submit and publish their own original vertically-reading manga via a web browser.

Those who submit outstanding works will be given numerous opportunities to debut in Jump TOON. The submitted works will be read by Jump TOON editorial staff, and those who appear to have the potential to debut will be contacted directly by the editorial department to be scouted.
