“Masahiro Maeda Miscellaneous Art Collection (tentative title)'', an impressive collection of works that looks back on the life of Masahiro Maeda (belongs to Color Co., Ltd.), a great and giant in the anime world, will be released in 2024

Masahiro Maeda, who belongs to Color Co., Ltd., which is known for producing the “Evangelion New Theatrical Version” series, and celebrated his 60th birthday last year, will release his first and long-awaited collection of works “Masahiro Maeda Miscellaneous Pictures Collection (tentative)” in 2024. has been decided to go on sale (reservations start today, Friday, May 17th).

The work he has been involved in is “Aim for the top! '', the Heisei Gamera trilogy, “Gankutsuou'', the “Evangelion'' series, “Mad Max: Fury Road'', “Shin Godzilla,'' etc., and design, art, and costumes for not only animation but also live-action works. There are countless places where he has played an active role both domestically and internationally.

This book collects as much material as possible, from image sketches drawn at the initial planning stage, to intermediate products created during the brush-up process, and even large-scale drawings. This is an art book that covers and records Masahiro Maeda's career, with a total of over 100 works, including unpublished works, and approximately 30 works. In addition, the individuality that forms Masahiro Maeda, both an artist and a human being, is highlighted from the historical background, anime history, and the words of people who lived in this era with him, and the relationships between Masahiro Maeda and him. This is a unique collection of works that looks back on a huge number of works.

Mahiro Maeda (born 1963)

Animation director, animator, designer, manga artist. He belongs to the color drawing department of Co., Ltd.
While attending Tokyo Zokei University, he participated as an animator in works such as “The Super Dimension Fortress Macross,'' “DAICON IV OPENING ANIMATION,'' and “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.'' From around 1985, he became a full-fledged member of Gainax. “Royal Space Force Wings of Honneamise”, “Aim for the top! He was in charge of the original animation, settings, and direction for works such as “Nadia: The Secret World''. He made his debut as an animation director with the music video for Tomoyasu Hotei's “DANCING WITH THE MOONLIGHT.” In 1992, he participated in the establishment of Gonzo Limited Company. He has worked on OVA works such as “Ao no 6'' and “Gankutsuou''. In 2012, he joined Color Co., Ltd. In the same year, he directed, collaborated on the screenplay, and was in charge of image boards, storyboards, and design works for “Rebuild of Evangelion: Q,'' and was responsible for concept art and design for “Mad Max: Fury Road,'' which was released in 2015. In 2021, he was in charge of the director, concept art director, storyboard, art setting, and original drawing for “Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version”. He is actively engaged in activities such as being in charge of monster design and detail work for the currently airing “Kaiju No. 8”.
