Leak: Gachiakuta will have an anime in 2025 by Bones studio

One leak revealed that an anime series adaptation of the manga is in production Gachiakuta written and illustrated by Kei Urana.

It was also revealed that the premiere will take place in 2025 and that the animation was delivered to the studio Bones (Mob Psycho, My Hero Academia, Bungou Stray Dogs). We are now waiting for official confirmation.

Gachiakuta began to be published in February 2022 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine from the Kodansha and its 11th volume will be released on June 17, 2024. The manga was nominated in the 48th edition of the Kodansha Manga Awards, being defeated by Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Sousou in Frieren).

Synopsis of Gachiakuta

Living in the slums of a rich society lives a population of “tribals”, descendants of criminals exiled from society. Living among the tribe is a boy named Rudo, who detests the wastefulness of the upper class. They tend to dump anything considered trash, including criminals, in a huge garbage dump beneath the city known as “The Pit.” Rudo was informed by his adoptive father, Regto, that his biological father was thrown into the Well for a crime before he was born. One day, after rummaging through a dumpster, Rudo returns home and finds Regto dead. Arrested at the scene, Rudo is immediately accused of murder, despite his innocence, due to his status as a member of the tribe. Unable to escape his fate, Rudo swears revenge on the people and is thrown into the Well.

After being thrown into the Well, Rudo wakes up and finds himself disoriented in an endless, smelly landscape of garbage. Rudo is then attacked by large beasts made of trash and fends them off until he is rescued by a man named Enjin. The man explains to Rudo that he is not actually underground, but has fallen to the surface of the “Sphere”. After testing him and awakening his power, Enjin invites Rudo to join him as a “cleaner”. Enjin explains that the scavengers are an organization that uses the power of unique weapons to hunt down the beasts that attacked him. Rudo reluctantly accepts Enjin's offer to join the Cleaners, as long as it helps him fulfill his goal of getting revenge on those who threw him into the Pit.
