While creating folding screens and tea rooms for “TANAAMI!! AKATSUKA!!'' in collaboration with Fujio Akatsuka, Keiichi Tanaami was also working on designing “kimonos.''

If you hang it on a cloth, it will become a large flat surface like a tapestry, and if you wear it, it will become a three-dimensional object that changes in various ways depending on your movements.

This kimono is difficult to match with the design of the fabric, so we tried to make the most of the original drawing as much as possible. Vivid colors created by a textile printer. Using a mix of machine and hand sewing, when worn, the collar and other areas stand out in three dimensions, creating a beautiful line.

Sales are scheduled to begin in August 2024 in conjunction with Keiichi Tanaami's retrospective exhibition at the National Art Center, Tokyo.

The kimonos are hung in the gallery and slowly rotated on display.
