The data refers to the fiscal year 2024 (April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024). The document then reveals that Mobile Suit Gundam took home first place overall, shooting Dragon Ball for second place for the first time in six years.

Franchises that gave Bandai Namco the most money in fiscal year 2024

According to the data, Mobile Suit Gundam almost won 146 billion yen in the last fiscal year, with a large part of this total coming from hobby and merchandise licensing. After all, there is no way to ignore the popularity of Gunplaand Bandai Namco has invested in this market segment.

As for Dragon Ballthe IP collected 140.6 billion yen in fiscal 2024. This total is down a few billion yen from 2023, where IP raised 144.5 billion. Although hobby sales have increased to Dragon Ball, things are slow for the franchise as a whole. No new anime releases have emerged to reinforce Dragon Ball, but this year, IP will return. The anime series Dragon Ball Daima will be released in the fall of 2024, so the Bandai Namco has high hopes for 2025.

And perhaps the most exciting thing is that One Piece reached a major milestone with the Bandai Namco. The IP collected 112.1 billion yen, marking the first time the IP has raised more than 100 billion yen in the company. The series has seen a dramatic increase in overall IP licensing, which went from 86.2 billion to 112.1 billion last year. Obviously, the anime helped boost One Piecein addition to the good sales of the manga, but we cannot forget the successful adaptation into a live-action series of One Piece at Netflix last August.
