FamilyMart conducted a survey on awareness of saving money at convenience stores among 800 men and women aged 15 to 69 who shop at convenience stores nationwide at least once a month. When asked if they were able to save money at convenience stores, about 70% of respondents answered that they were not able to.

FamilyMart will continue to run promotions such as the “Buy 1, get 1” campaign to encourage customers to visit the store and enjoy shopping, as well as other savings. Don't miss this chance to enjoy “fun savings” at FamilyMart.

“Survey on awareness of saving at convenience stores” revealed

With prices rising, how we choose where to shop has changed…?

In response to the recent trend of rising prices for food and daily necessities, we asked respondents about changes in how they “choose stores” (34.1%) responded, first, “I have started choosing stores where it is easy to accumulate coupons and points,” followed by “I have started choosing stores that are having special offers or sales” (29.3%) and third, “I have started choosing stores that are running advantageous campaigns” (23.1%). These results show that as people become more frugal, they are choosing stores with an awareness of coupons, sales and campaigns.

In addition, when asked how much they are able to save when shopping at convenience stores, approximately 70% of respondents answered “I don't think I'm able to save money” (25.9%) or “I think I'm not really able to save money” (43.3%), indicating that convenience stores are not a good place to save money. It seems that many consumers have an image of convenience stores being far from being an opportunity to save money.

Q. How much do you think you are able to “save” when shopping at a convenience store? (Figures 2 and 3)

However, younger people in their teens and twenties were more likely to answer that they “knew about it and had purchased the target products” than other age groups, suggesting that they are making good use of the “buy one, get one free” campaign.

Q. Did you know that convenience stores are running “buy one, get one free” campaigns?
