AMD announces AMD Ryzen 9000 processors

A OMG announced during the Computex 2024the processors AMD Ryzen 9000 which will be released worldwide on July 31st.

The new processors with the code name Granite Ridgethere will be up to two chiplets Zen5, each with up to 8 cores to maintain the traditional 16-core, 32-thread maximum configuration. Additionally, the OMG clarified that it will continue to support the technology SMTa feature that is no longer present in competing processors, that is, in the series Core Ultra 200 “Arrow Lake” from the Intel.

The series AMD Ryzen 9000 consists of the following SKUs:

• AMD Ryzen 9 9950X with 16 cores, TDP of 170 W and frequencies up to 5.7 GHz.
• AMD Ryzen 9 9900X with 12 cores, 120 W TDP and frequencies up to 5.6 GHz.
• AMD Ryzen 7 9700X with 8 cores, 65W TDP and frequencies up to 5.5 GHz.
• AMD Ryzen 5 9600X with 6 cores, TDP of 65 W and frequencies up to 5.4 GHz.

The series 9000 marks the first wave of models Zen5 which continues to use the same I/O matrix as its predecessors. However, the new series features chiplets Zen5 updated and some small changes in the arrangement of the capacitors.

According to the tests presented by OMGO AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 16-core is between 4% to 23% faster in games compared to the Intel Core i9-14900K. In productivity tests, the same happens with the processor of the OMG to obtain an even greater advantage by surpassing the flagship of Intel between 7% and 56%.

A OMG claims a 16% increase in IPC for the architecture Zen5 compared to the previous one and will continue to support the socket with new SKUs until 2027.
