After “What old anime would be a flop today?“, another interesting discussion on Reddit is gaining popularity. The post asks which animes they regret watching with many fans participating.

The discussion led anime fans to express their regrets regarding various aspects, from the plot and characters to the animation style and other elements.

Some anime fans have shared their experiences of disappointment with certain animes, expressing the wish that they could go back in time so as not to waste time. The reasons for these complaints are diverse, including poorly developed stories, unattractive characters or simply an animation style that did not meet expectations.

The discussion thread quickly gained popularity, with several comments detailing the reasons behind the choices. From series that promised a lot but didn’t live up to expectations, to those that simply failed to connect with the public. The debate over disappointing anime has generated a wide range of opinions:

  • Somehow I managed to watch 100 episodes of Boruto thinking that it would definitely get better at some point. I don’t know why the hell I did that. I was a huge Naruto fan back then, but still. what a waste of time.
  • School Daysundoubtedly.
  • Itazura at Kiss, protagonist was horrible. And Tokyo Revengers, for the same reason.
  • Big Order It’s the most aberrant story I’ve ever seen.
  • I had high expectations for Big Order because it was written by the same author as Mirai Nikki, which I really liked. But no, it was the worst anime I’ve ever watched, and I really regret watching it to the end thinking the story would get better.
  • Tokyo Revengers. I really like the premise. A guy goes back in time to try to fix things. Bright. But I hate the execution. It’s almost comical that he fails each time he comes back to a greater or lesser extent than the next, but he also always takes a beating. I forced myself to get through at least the first season in hopes of seeing some Takemichi character development. Including training, learning to fight, becoming physically stronger, etc. But not. As useless as ever in every episode. So I didn’t go back for the other seasons.
  • JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Ruined my life. I can’t go a minute without thinking about JoJo. Italy? Reference to JoJo. Disabled people? Reference to JoJo. The word “Bizarro” refers to JoJo. The fucking Sun? JoJo reference.
  • 11 Eyes Plot and characters. Don’t see.
  • Scum’s Wishnot because it’s a bad story, but because it made me feel bad.
  • Platinum End because it has my vote for the worst ending of all. I thought it was good until the end, but the ending was so horrible that it ruined everything.
  • I don’t know if people liked it, but recently I regretted watching it Ninja Kamui. Very generic. We have typical revenge. One guy basically goes against the world. After a certain point, it’s not about ninjas. I don’t want to give more details about what I didn’t like because I would be spoiling it for everyone who wants to see it. I only liked the first 2 episodes.
  • Kanojo, Okarishimasuwhether the manga or the anime.
  • Glasslip. Good animation, but nothing important happens. It’s a parade of dreams. The plot is simply non-existent. There is no story worth telling. It’s just a bunch of unimportant stories that don’t add anything. What a waste of animation.
  • I’m sorry that Tokyo Ghoul:RE was excited in the first place.
  • Blood-Cthe blood and misery were above average, but I felt cheated by the ending.
  • Redo of Healer. I like it, but I hate it at the same time.
  • I don’t stick to any specific series, but I think at this point I’ve seen too many for the magic to be gone. If I could choose, I would erase all the anime from my memory and leave a list of 100 series that I know I will love. After these 100 series, I will stop watching anime. I’ll look at some seasonal things, but I’ll largely stop. Basically I regret watching so many series. I wasted time on things that didn’t interest me and I was forced to watch series that I didn’t even like.
  • I regret watching the special ending of Wonder Egg Priority, I would take the rest with its pointless anime feel and total lack of ending and I still enjoyed the ride even with the wasted potential. But those last 30 minutes felt cruel and hateful and somehow still listless in a way that dismantles the series.
  • I watched Cyberpunk: Edgerunners when it came out and I loved it, but I wish I had watched it after playing the game when update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty came out.
  • Akame ga Killwhat a shitty ending.
  • Mirai Nikki.
  • Darling in the FranXXI have no doubts.
  • I’m having trouble finishing SPY x FAMILY. I like it, but the pace is affecting me a little. It’s as if each episode was a recap. It took a few months and now I’m seeing where I left off and there’s still no real progress. But unfortunately I’m going to see it until the end because I like the premise.
  • Kiznaiverthe anime I hate the most to date.
  • Guilty Crown. I wish I had left it at episode 13.
  • Aho Girl. It wasn’t fun, but in an even worse way, it was just annoying and made me angry. Everyone is idiots, the guy is an angry brute and the main girl is such an annoying person, and her mother is even worse. The only character I could tolerate was another girl who was actually a decent person, but the story always treated her poorly.
  • It’s not the worst I’ve seen, but it’s probably the hardest to bear: Magic Record. It was like watching Madoka’s corpse being used by an inexperienced puppeteer: uneven animation, with some parts, especially the last one, being good, but basic errors like “the characters appear to float above the ground when they walk”. Like other gacha adaptations, there are many characters that don’t have enough screen time to be developed, but still expect us to remember each one of them.
